"Ted" was bred by Marilyn Foster (Shelly Bay) and Judy Francisco (Holyrood) in Connecticut. In 1991, Marilyn placed Ted's campaign in Randell's hands, and with Marilyn and Lew Foster and Randell on Ted's papers...Ted was on his way.
In early 1995, Marilyn and Randell flew to Indiana forTed's grand finale where he won back-to-back Bests In Show from judges Ms. M. Lynwood Walton (pictured) and Mr. Peter B. Thompson. To this day, Ted is the Number 2 Westie in the history of the breed, finishing his career with 51 all-breed Bests In Show, 156 Group Firsts, and 8 Specialty Bests In Show including the National Roving 1992 and 1993. In 1993, he also won BOB and Group Second at the Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show (under the late Terrier specialist Ms. Ruth Cooper) and was the NUMBER 4 DOG IN AMERICA . Bergit said Ted was the best show dog she ever had. Thank you Bergit for completing this amazing team. And, none of this would have been possible without the incredible support, financial and otherwise, of Ted's co-owners during his career...Dr. Marcia Montgomery (Wynecroft), the late Gary Gabriel (L'Esprit), the late Florence MacMillan (L'Esprit), and Mr. Fred Melville (Westpride).
In 1992, Ted's first year as a special, Ted and Bergit won 13 all-breed Bests In Show, 45 Group Firsts, and 3 Bests In Specialty Show, including the National Roving under the late noted Terrier judge Ms. Dora Lee Wilson.
Realizing Ted's promise, Randell started Ted at specialties. Ted won the Sweepstakes at Trinity Valley (under the late breeder-judge Mr. Hal Heubel) and the Sweepstakes at Great Western (under breeder-judge Mr. Wayne Kompare, pictured above). Hal Heubel took great pride in "discovering" this wonderful dog, and took every opportunity to remind everyone that he had.
